Signed to Matador Records in 2015, Car Seat Headrest is currently on tour presenting material from their latest album Teens of Style as a full band. Toledo's work is notable for its large online cult following. The group has received attention from publications including Pitchfork,〔http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/21121-teens-of-style/〕 Rolling Stone,〔http://www.rollingstone.com/music/albumreviews/car-seat-headrest-teens-of-style-20151102〕 the New Yorker and Paste,〔http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2015/12/the-50-best-albums-of-2015.html?p=3〕 amongst others.〔http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2015/11/02/growth-spurt-pop-music-hua-hsu〕 == History == Car Seat Headrest began as the project of Will Toledo, who chose the name "Car Seat Headrest" due to his decision to record the vocals of his first albums in the back seat of his car for privacy. Toledo's production has gradually grown less lo-fi, but he still remains an effective example of the DIY ethic. Toledo saw a large influx of new fans with his 2011 release Twin Fantasy, which has become his most popular album to date. In September 2015, Car Seat Headrest announced on his Facebook page that he had signed an album deal with Matador Records. In October 2015, Car Seat Headrest released the compilation album Teens of Style under the label, his first album that was not self-released via Bandcamp. It has been announced that a new album created with traditional studio processes, Teens of Denial, will be released in 2016.
